Create a stunning Folded Star Table Topper using simple folding and stitching techniques on your regular sewing machine. Though it looks complex, this project is surprisingly easy! You’ll fold 5" fabric squares into Prairie Points, arrange them on a pattern, glue in place, and stitch them down.

You'll also make a bias binding in class and quilt the center.

Your center design can feature:

• A fussy-cut panel

• An embroidery design

• A border print

What to Bring:

• Sewing machine in good working order (with power cord, foot control, and manual)

• Presser feet: ¼” foot, stitch-in-the-ditch, open toe, walking foot

• Optional: Free-motion or ruler foot for quilting the center

• Size 90/14 Topstitch needles; matching thread for topstitching

• 80 or 100 wt thread for Prairie Points (available at Ana’s)

• Liquid fabric glue (Roxanne’s recommended)

• Prairie Point folding tool (available at class discount – optional but helpful)

• Small/medium cutting mat and rotary cutter with sharp blade

• Travel iron and pressing mat (optional but helpful)

• 6" x 24" ruler and smaller ruler (to measure 5” squares)

• Binding clips and basic sewing supplies (scissors, seam ripper, fabric markers, etc.)

Class Prep:

Please prepare the following items before class:

• Pattern (available at Ana’s – class discount applies)

• 12” square of focus fabric (only 6–8” will show)

• 2 pieces of 12” square thin batting (for center design)

• One 22” square each of batting and backing

• Four 1/3-yard (12") x WOF fabric pieces for Prairie Points

• Minimum 10” square of coordinating fabric for bias binding

• Pre-starch all your fabrics – this is very important for crisp folds and easy handling
