Clearly Creative! The Vinyl & Fabric See-Through Tote

Never lose track of your projects again! The Clearly Creative See-Through Bag is the ultimate combination of style and high-visibility function. In this hands-on workshop, instructor Donna will guide you step-by-step through the process of building a structured zipper bag using a combination of traditional cotton fabric and clear vinyl panels.

This project is fantastic for intermediate sewists looking to expand their skill set. You will learn the best techniques for handling, cutting, and stitching clear vinyl without sticking, working with stabilizing foam for a professional finish, and installing a clean zipper closure. Complete with handy exterior pockets and sturdy webbing straps, it’s the perfect bag for organizing your current quilting projects, beach gear, or travel toiletries.

Student Supply List

Please bring the following gear and materials to class:

• Your sewing machine in good working order, equipped with a regular foot and a zipper foot

• All your favorite, usual sewing tools (scissors, pins, seam ripper, etc.)

• Fabric & Hardware:

  • 1/4 yard cotton fabric for the bag bottom exterior

  • 1/4 yard cotton fabric for the bag bottom lining

  • 1/4 yard cotton fabric for the binding pieces (or scraps leftover from your other fat quarters)

  • Webbing strap (1” wide): One 84” long strap for a single solid color, OR two 42” long straps if you want two colors

  • 1/4 yard sew-in foam (such as ByAnnie Soft and Stable)

  • 1/4 to 1/2 yard of 12-16 gauge clear vinyl (depending on the width of the vinyl bolt)

  • One #5 zipper (at least 16’’ long) with the zipper pull

  • 1/8" double-sided sewing tape (crucial for holding vinyl without leaving pinholes!)

  • Wonder Clips / sewing clips

  • Coordinating sewing thread
