Dress Your Table! Summer Picnic Self-Binding Placemats

Give your dining or picnic table a custom makeover with the Summer Picnic Self-Binding Placemats workshop! If you’ve been looking for a fun, functional home decor project that lets you show off beautiful fabrics or experiment with your sewing machine's built-in features, this is the perfect opportunity.

Led by instructor Rachel, this two-part class will guide you through creating a matching set of four 12" x 18" placemats using a clever, time-saving self-binding technique. While traditional quilting is not required for this project, the creative options are truly endless! Rachel will show you how you can add unique flair to your table settings using decorative stitches, optional appliqué, or simply by highlighting a gorgeous large-scale print. It's a relaxed, creative environment designed to help you get the absolute most fun out of your sewing machine.

Class Details & Logistics:

• Location: Green Bay Store

• Dates: Saturday, July 11th & Saturday, July 18th (Two-part class)

• Time: 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM

• Instructor: Rachel

• Difficulty Level: Level 2 (Confident Beginner)

• Class Cost: $15.00 registration fee

• Registration: Preregistration is not strictly required, but it is highly encouraged! Giving us a heads-up helps ensure we have plenty of staff on hand and comfortable table space set up for everyone.

Student Supply List

Please bring the following gear and materials to class:

• Your sewing machine with its power cord and standard accessories/feet needed for basic sewing, cutting, and pinning.

• Fabric Requirements:

  • 1 yard of Fabric A (Main body)

  • 1 yard of Fabric B (Backing and self-binding accent)

  • These two 1-yard cuts will yield a complete set of 4 placemats!

• Optional but Highly Recommended Tools:

  • FriXion heat-erasable marking pen

  • Quilters Select 6" x 12" ruler
